Why the ‘Herder of Cats’?
I've heard that cats can be notoriously difficult to herd, much like projects with many stakeholders can be challenging to keep on track. My approach has always been to create a plan and stay organized, project management comes second nature to me! After starting a career in digital marketing I joined a small agency where I wore many hats so I was often introduced to potential clients as Jenn, the one who herds all the cats. Taking on many roles throughout my career has put me in a unique position to drive my client's success. I also live on a small farm where I literally herd goats, dogs, chickens and of course, cats!
Over 15 years ago I started in Customer Service managing client accounts and training them on every aspect of their digital marketing system, from responding to leads in their Client Relationship Management (CRM) tool, to editing the content on their websites. I also had the opportunity to learn that website platform intimately enough to write training manuals and maintain a wiki knowledge base for the entire company. Technical writing, as detail-oriented as it can be, remains something I still enjoy today.
In addition, I’ve worked retail gigs helping customers at the Home Depot service desk and executing display resets at Ann Taylor. These experiences at brick and mortar stores taught me about how customers interface with products and how to make stores more shopable.
Retail also taught me the value of excellent customer serviceā¦to me that means I am the one who answers the phone (with a smile), no outsourcing allowed. Ecommerce is a passion of mine and I have dedicated years to learning several platforms, primarily WordPress WooCommerce and Magento 1 & 2. As these systems have many parallels to other Ecommerce tools, I have been able to work on others such as Clover and Squarespace as well.
Now I leverage years of project management, Ecommerce merchandising and content management to guide my clients through all aspects of omni-channel marketing. It starts with a detailed competitor analysis and review of all available data to create a comprehensive marketing plan for each.
